Following a series of terrorist attacks in the 1980s that included the destruction of the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon and the entire U.S. intelligence presence in Beirut, the CIA sent William Buckley to go pick up the pieces.
Buckley, a veteran of two wars and seasoned operator, was eventually kidnapped and Murdered by Hezbollah. Now his story is finally being told in Beirut Rules, the newest book from authors Fred Burton and Samuel Katz. Burton sits down with Stratfor Podcast host Ben Sheen to discuss the book, why he wanted to tell this story and the challenges he faced on the ground 35-years ago as a counterterrorism agent with the U.S. State Department trying to find Buckley and so many other Americans kidnapped during that reign of terror.
